Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Georgia Provost; Preserving African American History by Featuring Texas Trailblazers

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

I learned of the passing of Georgia Provost from a "FACEBOOK POST" published by Hall of Fame KCOH Broadcaster Ralph Cooper, whom I've known for over 34 years. After learning of Georgia's passing, I immediately called Ralph Cooper to seek confirmation.

Yes. It's true. The one and only "GEORGIA PROVOST" has transitioned and gone home to glory. The passing of Georgia Provost is another stark reminder of how fragile and short our stay on earth, in the land of the living, is, in the grand scheme of things.

GEORGIA AND POLITICS...

There's no doubt that Georgia Provost will be missed by her Texas Southern University Family. But women from far and near will forever remember the name "GEORGIA PROVOST," and her undying love for humanity and good governance.

Georgia's love for Houston and Harris County, Texas fueled her desire to win public office to serve the State of Texas at a higher level. She ran for Harris County Judge in 2022, receiving 10,071 votes.

Georgia Provost ran for Houston City Council At-Large Position #1 in 2019, receiving 27.648 votes. Before her 2019 run for Houston City Council, Georgia Provost ran for Houston City Council At-Large Position #1 against a star-studded field of (8) eight candidates, and finished second to make the runoff against Mike Knox, who defeated Georgia by a razor-thin margin.

On Saturday, December 12, 2015, Mike Knox received 87,191 votes for 51.7% of the vote, and Georgia Provost received 81,507 votes, for 48.3% of the vote.

OTHER TRAILBLAZERS...

Women have come a long way since the 19th Amendment became the law of the land in America. “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.”

Listen. The amendment to our United States Constitution, which granted women the right to vote, was enacted at the beginning of the Roaring Twenties, and was passed by the United States Congress on June 4, 1919, and ratified on August 18, 1920 – in case you didn’t know.

If you fast-forward to 2026, women are dominating politics and have become “STEALTH CANDIDATES,” possessing an uncanny ability to find ways to win political races, with few resources. And when it comes to “BLACK WOMEN,” their road is even more difficult. However, these “TRAILBLAZING POLITICAL STALWARTS” have time and time again proven themselves to be loyal, reliable, hardworking candidates and voters that the Democratic Party can rely upon.

On Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the Harris County Democratic Party will have a historic field of (31) thirty-one “BLACK JUDICIAL CANDIDATES,” headlining one of the strongest fields of candidates ever assembled in American history.

An astonishing group of (28) twenty-eight “BLACK FEMALES,” and (3) three “BLACK MALES,” will be featured on the Tuesday, November 3, 2026, General Election ballot, when early voting begins on Monday, October 19, 2026, and ends on Friday, October 30, 2026, in Harris County, Texas.

ABOUT THE PUBLISHER…

Let me reintroduce myself to you. My name is Aubrey R Taylor, and I am the publisher of Houston Business Connections Newspaper and Ground-Game Magazine.

Over the years, my company (Aubrey R. Taylor Communications) has assisted in branding and marketing (through our various publications) such corporations and institutions as Shell Oil, The City of Houston, Texas A&M University, Texas Southern University, Prairie View A&M University, Chevron, Shell Oil, Waste Management, Nationwide Insurance, Momentum Jaguar/BMW, Channel 11, Channel 13, State Farm Insurance, and Allstate Insurance to name a few.

POLITICAL INFLUENCER…

In the political world, I have assisted in branding and marketing, Presidential Candidates, Texas Governors, Texas Supreme Court Justices, Appellate Court Justices, District Judges, County Court at Law Judges, County Probate Judges, Justice of the Peace, State Representatives, County Commissioners, City Council Members, Mayoral Candidates, and a host of politicians from both sides of the political aisle.

As you well know, I am one of the top “INVESTIGATIVE REPORTERS” in America. However, I am also a publisher, political consultant, strategist, and political analyst – one of America’s best.

A PROVEN WINNER…

On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in the Democratic Party Primary, I proved my mettle by helping a Board-Certified Attorney named Melanie Miles make the runoff against one of the foremost names in Harris County, Texas politics, over the last three decades.

In case you don’t remember, my consulting company was the firm that helped Judge-Elect Melanie Miles defeat “THE BURNEY NAME” in her own backyard, in the Third Ward.

So, if anyone believes that I am done or washed up, you had better think again, because I am stronger than ever and ready to do battle on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, in the General Midterm Election in Harris County, Texas, Fort Bend County, and Jefferson County, Texas.

WOMAN OF THE YEAR…

When I think of Judge-Elect Melanie Miles, I think of a woman whose life’s journey has tested her in ways unimaginable, yet through it all she’s persevered and achieved her goal of becoming a member of the judiciary – with my help.

Along the way, Judge-Elect Melanie Miles ran for judicial positions as a Republican and for Houston City Council. Still, it is her victory over Judge Sharon Burney that stands out in my mind, and will forever be one of the crowning moments of my career.

Locking arms with Judge-Elect Melanie Miles and helping her to become the Justice of the Peace for Precinct 7, Place 2, was difficult. Still, she and I were able to overcome the lies, falsehoods, and innuendoes to accomplish our goal.

As a refresher, Judge-Elect Melanie Miles does not have a Republican opponent. She will thus take office in January 2027, after defeating Judge Sharon Burney in the Tuesday, May 26, 2026, Democratic Party Primary “RUNOFF ELECTION” race for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 7, Place 2, in Harris County, Texas.

MAKING HISTORY…

With my job, some people are going to love me, and some are going to hate me – I knew that when I answered the call that God placed on my life. However, I never thought that one person could start spreading lies, half-truths, and innuendoes about me and disrupt our entire “JUDICIAL SYSTEM” heading into one of the most important election cycles in American history.

As “BLACK PEOPLE,” we are on the cusp of greatness, and I plan to capture “OUR GREATNESS” during this pivotal moment in the history of our great nation.

Never before, in “AMERICAN HISTORY,” has there ever been (31) thirty-one African American “DEMOCRATIC JUDICIAL NOMINEES” on the ballot running for office together, in any county, anywhere in America. However, on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, in Harris County, Texas, the third-most populous county in the United States of America, boasting over 5 million people – Black excellence will be on full display, and I plan to capture it for future generations to see.

As a refresher, the largest group of “BLACK JUDICIAL NOMINEES” to ever run for office at one time and win happened when (17) seventeen members of the “HOUSTON NINETEEN” took America by storm, back during the Tuesday, November 6, 2018, General Midterm Election.
